Caring for Your Micro Pig

  • A good quality Sow and Weaner Mix is recommended. Alternatively, a specialist Pot Bellied Pig Food can be used. Your Micro Pig should be fed twice a day, preferably at the same times each day.
  • You should confine your pig to a smallish area whilst it gets used to new surroundings and people. Gradually allow them more roaming (normally within 2—3 days).
  • Ensure that your piglet is kept warm.
  • You must never feed your pig kitchen waste however, you can supplement their food with fruit and vegetables.
  • Your pig needs access to the outdoors as well as the indoors if it is to be happy and healthy.
  • Your pig will need worming at least every 6 months. The best way to do this is a visit to the vet.
  • Strange as this may sound, it is a good idea to have a Pig First Aid Box. You can ask your vet for help with this but some inclusions are wound powder, surgical spirit, septic cleanse wound dressing.
  • You will need to 'Pig Proof' your home.
  • Pigs need lots of water so you need to ensure it has a clean supply at all times.
  • If you are going on holidays, don't leave your pig home alone.
